Seed Starting Workshops taught by Jenny from Jenny's Gardens

Date:  Saturday February 20, 2016
Time:  10AM – 11:30AM
Cost:  $35 / person plus $10 materials fee*

Farm to Table Breakfast available at 9AM for an additional $15 / person

Have you ever wanted to grow specialty vegetables in your garden, but couldn’t find the right seedling
varieties for sale at the local garden center?  Come and learn how to start your own vegetable plants
from seed - Jenny Krantz, owner of Jenny’s Gardens, will show you how to grow your own seedlings for
heirloom tomatoes, Asian eggplants, superhot peppers and more.  This will be a hands-on workshop, so
come dressed to play in the dirt, and bring a friend!

Students will learn:
 Where to get specialty seeds
 What kind of potting mix to use and why
 Types of seedling pots, including make-your-own options
 Planting depth and how to water the pot without sinking the seed
 Soil temperature, water and light requirements
 Potting up and planting out

* Materials fee includes seedling watering tray (1020 no hole flat), 3 large 6-pack inserts, profe
ssional
potting mix (Promix), plastic plant tags and 4 specialty vegetable sample seed packs. 
Additional sample packs of heirloom and specialty vegetable seeds will also be available for sale at the workshop.
